Army Lodging: New Lodge Facility

MILWAUKEE, WI / This project includes the design of a new, permanent, seven-story, 103-unit Army Lodging facility at USAG Camp Zama, Japan including 57 Extended Stay rooms and 6 Family Suites. Army Lodging at Camp Zama primarily serves TDY personnel and families undergoing a Permanent Change of Station in need of temporary housing. The project site is a largely flat, 8,500 SM (2.1 acres) parcel and had previously been occupied by facilities, and later sports and training fields. Various utilities were relocated by the base DPW in anticipation of this project.

OTIE provided design documents for the construction of the new Army Lodging Facility which included site existing conditions, demolition and erosion control, site, utility, grading, landscape, structural, and electrical plans, and details.

Site work design included a design to allow the preservation of several mature Cherry Trees which are important to the Camp Zama installation and local culture. The Lodge site was designed to conform to Anti-Terrorism regulations with a 10m unobstructed zone from the building façade.

OTIE’s design team produced a design analysis report, hydrologic & hydraulic (H&H) analysis, color 3D renderings, drawings and specifications for design development, construction, and bidding documents.
