Victoria Flowers Receives EPA Environmental Award
Congrats upon receiving the Taimi Lynne Hoag Award for Environmental Stewardship
MILWAUKEE, WI / Oneida ESC Group congratulates Victoria Flowers, Senior Environmental Scientist, on receiving an award from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The Taimi Lynne Hoag Award for Environmental Stewardship award recipient demonstrates a high degree of initiative, leadership, and accomplishment in environmental protection in Indian country. She was nominated by the 35 Tribes in Region 5.
Victoria’s skills and knowledge support environmental protection by managing the Underground Storage Tank (UST), Environmental Response, and Indoor Air Quality programs, and writing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and grant applications. In addition, she is serving on the National Tribal Waste & Response (TWAR) Steering Committee, Tribal Environmental Program Managers (TEPM) planning groups, Tribal Lands & Environmental Forum (TLEF) planning teams and is involved with UST meetings and Bootcamps. The UST Bootcamps have taught hundreds of Tribal employees on procedures and safety regarding transportation and fuels.
At nearly every conference she attends, Victoria frequently conducts training and presents or moderates panel discussions to share her knowledge. During the TEPM 2024 Conference held at Region 5 EPA Headquarters March 12-15, 2024, she presented on Tribal Response Program development, Alternative Fuels for Transportation and shared her reporting tool developed in Power BI, which is becoming a model and used by other agencies. Her next initiative is to work on a new, improved Land Use Planning Tool in a GIS platform to assist the Tribe in Land Use Planning and decision making.
