Mayport Dunes are Restored
MAYPORT, FL / The Mayport Dunes near Hanna Park and adjacent facilities in Jacksonville, FL, needed restoration after the storms of Hurricane Ian and Nicole in 2022 eroded the beach and nearby dunes and damaged the beach facilities.
The project includes design and construction services as well as restoration services. We are repairing damaged beach facilities, demolishing seven boardwalks and rebuilding six boardwalks: four boardwalks + two ADA compliant boardwalks. The dunes, located at the mouth of St. Johns River, are included in the project with eroded beach revetment and restoration – the extent of the dune restoration is 5,620 feet in length with an estimated in-place volume of 64,000 CF of sand.
