Submerged Cultural Resources Remote Sensing Survey
JACKSONVILLE, FL / LG2 performed a robust cultural resource assessment survey, facilitated data dissemination, and completed necessary reporting to support a contact request. The remote sensing survey was used to determine the presence or absence of potentially significant cultural resources within the Big Sarasota Pass in Sarasota County, Florida.
Highlights
- Investigations were performed by professional archaeologists and met the qualifications requirements established in the Secretary of Interior’s Standards and Guidelines.
- An archaeological remote sensing survey was conducted on 50.9 nautical miles of shoreline utilizing side scan sonar, a magnetometer, and sub-bottom profiler equipment.
- Strategies were developed to preserve 23 potentially significant archaeological sites within the project area.
