Security Building Demolition and Consolidation, NAS Pensacola, FL

Under a design-bid-build, stand-alone contract, MS2 managed the asbestos abatement and demolition of Buildings 1518, 1523, and 1907 (a total of 16,638 SF) at NAS Pensacola, FL. MS2 also removed and constructed a new generator building enclosure and Building 3873G and performed a variety of mechanical repairs and upgrades to Building 3873 Armory.

For the demolition of buildings 1518, 1523, and 1907, MS2 terminated utilities (mechanical, electrical, water, sewage, communication), graded the site, and stabilized the soil. Asbestos abatement during demolition included ceiling texture, hot water piping, exterior transit siding, floor tile, and mastic. The site was then graded and backfilled for proper drainage and hydro-seeded for soil stabilization.

For Building 3873G, MS2 demolished the building and a wooden generator enclosure, footer, and slab and constructed a new 21-doot by 17-foot CMU enclosure with light metal trusses and standing seam roof. The existing generator was reinstalled with controls and fuel lines, and two new 10-foot by 12-foot louvers and associated ductwork were also installed. New electrical systems included new fluorescent lighting and lightening protection. The site was then graded and backfilled for proper drainage and covered and sod and seed. Additional work at Building 3873 Armory included replacement of a fan coil unit, removal of louvers, patching of interior and exterior walls, painting of doors and frames, and removal of insulation from the top of the wall to the roof deck and reinsulated.
