New Fire Station, Minocqua, WI

Provided mechanical, fire protection, electrical, and plumbing engineering design services for new 15,000-square-foot fire station for the village of Minocqua. The design process involved careful coordination and consideration of multiple building systems that achieved the program mandates for safety, functionality, comfort, energy efficiency, maintainability, and construction budget. Design included a new DDC system which will provide energy management, schedule control, and remote monitoring. This system has the potential to reduce operating costs by up to 10% when compared to a non-DDC control system. Other design features include

  • Vehicle garage heating and ventilation systems and dedicated vehicle engine fume exhaust capture system
  • Radiant in-floor heating
  • Variable Air Volume (VAV) HVAC system with energy recovery systems.
  • Complete domestic water supply and waste systems
  • Specialized clothes washer
  • Apparatus filling system (hose reels and standpipes)
  • Standby power generator system capable of backing up the entire facility
  • Daylight harvesting and occupant sensing controls
  • Full building fire alarm system design including initiating and signaling devices
  • Telecommunications cabling and rack-mounted equipment
