I-355 Wetland Delineation, DuPage and Will Counties, IL

The Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (ISTHA) is proposing improvements to the Veterans Memorial Tollway (Interstate (I-355) from milepost (MP) 12.3, from the I-355 and Interstate 55 (I-55) interchange in Will County, to MP 29.8 at the East Army Trail Road interchange in DuPage County, IL. Existing land use within and immediately adjacent to the project limits includes roadway right-of-way (ROW), residential, commercial and undeveloped land.

OTIE ecologists assisted with wetland and waterway delineations, identifying 39 wetlands, 17 waterways, and 124 water storage/conveyance features within the project limits. The project lies within the Headwaters East Branch DuPage River Watershed, the East Branch DuPage River Watershed, the Lily Cache Creek Watershed, the Goose Lake – Des Plaines River Watershed, and the Middle Salt Creek Watershed—all of which are subwatersheds of the Des Plaines River Watershed.

OTIE also assisted with preparation of the wetland delineation report and Corps of Engineers permit for the proposed project.
